Sorry I haven’t been posting much! Life is settled down. We are pretty much just working during the week and relaxing on the weekend – but we finally go on our honeymoon on Sunday. So here are some photos from the past two month.

It’s Fall
It’s been a pretty mellow week – all I’ve really done is make bread and go hiking – so here’s a photo dump. I’ve been trying to get more into photography. In practice this means googling what settings to play around with on my camera, lugging my tripod around, taking a thousand photos … andContinue reading “It’s Fall”
Hiking and the DMV
The only interesting thing that has happened recently is my trip to the DMV, but nobody wants pictures of that. So I’m going to tell the DMV story and show you totally unrelated pictures from recent hikes. On Friday I decided to get my Liechtenstein drivers license. It’s supposed to be a straight exchange: handContinue reading “Hiking and the DMV”
FURNITURE! and also LLAMAS!
We have our furniture!!!!!! After 3.5 months. We are not quite done settling in – we still have to hang up most of our pictures (an unexpected challenge) – but most of the hard work is done. One of the less- fun aspects of getting our stuff was the discovery that it all smelled likeContinue reading “FURNITURE! and also LLAMAS!”
Dog Vomit and Lyme Disease
I hope the title of this blog post has adequately prepared you, because it only gets worse from here. But there will be lots of beautiful pictures of the mountains, so at least you have that. First: Lyme Disease On Friday I noticed a red mark on my skin. Which isn’t unusual, because I’m allergicContinue reading “Dog Vomit and Lyme Disease”
The War Against the Fungus Gnats
One (or more) of the plants I bought in Austria came with a free gift: fungus gnats. For the past 2 weeks, my house has smelled like unwashed feet because I have set out apple cider vinegar traps for these demons. I was catching some – but not enough. And the problem seemed to beContinue reading “The War Against the Fungus Gnats”
Bern and Rapperswil
This weekend we went to Bern to pick up our rental car, and stopped at Rapperswil on our way home on Sunday. We spent a lot of time in museums, learning about medieval Swiss history (Swisstory?) and walking around the city of Bern, admiring the architecture. There is a 700+ year old clock in BernContinue reading “Bern and Rapperswil”
New friends and accidental crimes
On Saturday we went to Walensee, a lake nearby in Switzerland. We parked in the wrong place but it all worked out, because we got to see a lake and a waterfall (and we also got to drive through the most terrifying one-lane tunnel while our friend driving screamed I’m a mole!). We also learnedContinue reading “New friends and accidental crimes”
The great laundry meltdown of July 2021
(Skip to the second half to read about our fantastic weekend hike & my best day so far, if you don’t feel like listening to me complain about household chores) Before I tell you about laundry I have to tell you about quiet hours. Every apartment building has quiet hours. Ours are 10p-7a (reasonable) andContinue reading “The great laundry meltdown of July 2021”
American Music Night & Zurich
Friday, the Gemeinde (town hall is the closest term I can think of but it is so much more) put on an American Music Night. We were not prepared for how much fun we had. we sang and danced for hours! I also got to meet a couple of new people and pestered them forContinue reading “American Music Night & Zurich”
